About Your Hosts

Larry Shockey. For three and a half years, ending December 2007, Larry Shockey has served as President of the Steering Committee of Leathermen’s Discussion Group. While serving on the LDG Steering Committee, he became a catalyst, bringing the community together to produce Fetish Fair, LDG’s annual educational outreach to the BDSM, Leather, Kink and Fetish Communities.

The format of Fetish Fair is to expose as many people as possible to as many different forms of play as possible within the two hour format; raise awareness; demonstrate safer sex techniques; increase curiosity; raise comfort levels; and encourage everyone to come back to learn more.

A member of the kink and fetish communities for more than ten years, over the last three years he has begun leading discussions, workshops and presentations on safer fisting techniques, and to that end has written and distributed a Fisting 101 booklet which is designed to bring lots of information in an understandable format to those who are curious about or who may be new to the fisting scene. Larry has led programs for Leathermen’s Discussion Group, The SF Ring, Leather Levi Weekend, The Citadel, led discussions on creating the proper headspace for fisting bottoms and tops, developed a hands-in 4 hour workshop for intermediate players and has facilitated discussions for advanced players.

In 2008, Larry organized, promoted and staged his first fisting retreat to the Russian River, known as Spring FFling, which attracted approximately 80 fisters from around California and across the United States. Proudly described as a "weekend of debauchery with a social consciousness," Spring FFling was self labeled a "Safer-Sex, Drug-Free Event." The weekend also raised $900.00 for Food For Thought, the Sonoma County AIDS Food Bank through its raffle of a new portable sling and other high-end leather goods and toys.

In September 2008, after a months-long search for a host site, Larry brought a public fisting venue back to the SF sex scene for the first time since the closure of The Sling. Known as Hell Hole, this monthly play party on the third Saturday of the month has been widely and well-received by men not only in San Francisco, but from across the US and around the world.

Spring Ffling’s and Hell Hole’s success is followed in 2009 by a full year’s schedule of monthly Hell Hole parties and by Spring FFling 2, to be held May 1 - 4, 2009, at the Russian River Resort. The beneficiary of this year's raffle is the Sonoma County AIDS Emergency Fund.

In addition, Larry has served as the Chair for the planning committee for Leather Levi Weekends 2007 and 2008 (www.leatherlevi.org) as well as serving as a member of the Advisory Council for Leather Leadership Conference XII, which was in San Francisco in April 2008. In 2007 and 2008, he organized and coordinated the BDSM demonstration area at Leather Alley during SF’s Pride Festival following the Pride Parade. He has also done numerous public demonstrations of flogging, chest and nipple play and other forms of impact and temperature play for the Stop AIDS Project, SF Citadel, The Society of Janus, and the SF Leather Daddies. He is now focusing his efforts o establishing a community-wide mentoring program in the leather, kink and fetish communities.

Larry is very grateful to his fisting mentor who, through much patience, escorted him into the world of fisting play many years ago. Since that exquisite evening over 10 years ago, in addition to the many skilled tops and bottoms he has played with, Larry has been privileged to play with many novice tops and bottoms, educating them on the skills necessary to accomplish a successful scene.
